Hey, I'm only trying to help out. If you want to get an attitude with me, I really really really really don't give a care about your attitude.

This is a user-to-user community support forum. We are not RIM employees, but volunteers who enjoy assisting other users. RIM personnel rarely comment on queries posted here.

So, if you need help, I understand you're frustrated, but be nice or don't play, ok?

Now, just because you haven't downloaded anything, doesn't matter. EVEN your "out of the box" applications can drain the battery. Just some tips, take 'em or leave 'em.

Re: BATTERY DRAINING OUT

didnt mean for it to be directed to you personally. sorry about that. directed to rim. lol

as for out of the box... well it shouldnt be going dead at 13-16 hours. thats just bull**bleep**.   and there are manyyyyyyyyyyy people stating the battery is **bleep**. as only a few saying its good.. and most likely they are use to 1 day 1 night charging their phones. i dont like the idea of getting up.. fully charged on phone.. and its dead at 10pm .. and i have to charge it to continueing useing it before going back to bed for the night. its stupid.

the phone out of the box should

my Service Provider states

  • Talk time: up to 5.9 hours
  • Standby time: up to 12.8 days

i never used the phone for an acutal phone call yet. just texting and bbm.  think it'll drop from 12.8 days to 14 hours? lol

Re: BATTERY DRAINING OUT

Yep, understood.

I always top off my charge during the day, I wouldn't drain the battery each day anyway to 10-15%, it'll ruin your battery quicker.

But that's not your problem anyway, since it's a very new device.

Re: BATTERY DRAINING OUT

[ Edited ]

Add me to the list.

Upgraded to 9900 from 9780. With identical usage, i get ~8 hours on my 9900 which is literally 2.5 times less than on my 9780.

This is completely unacceptable by my standards. I use my phone mostly for work so I don't have any third party apps on it, not even Facebook or Tweeter.

I tried wiping the device and reloading number of different OSs, tried different batteries (each made in different county) with no luck and the battery being dead after barely half a day. At some point i thought i had a defective phone so i went ahead and got a replacement. Tried the same procedure with the new device and.........SAME **bleep**!!!

It just doesn't make sense to me. CPU with GPU and double the power, larger hi-res. touch screen and a smaller battery. Why RIM? Why?

What are your loyal customers who are migrating from 9700/9780 supposed to do? from 2.5-3 days of solid battery to 1/2-1. I hope that RIM will take responsibility for this and find some kind of solution and by solution i don't mean a new version of OS which cripples the device in order to save power/prolong the battery life.

Re: BATTERY DRAINING OUT

Has anyone found a solution to this? It's getting tremendously frustrating- I've upgraded to the 9900 and this otherwise fantastic handset is SPOILED by having a truly apalling battery life.  I've gone through my apps with a toothcomb deleting everything unnecessary, I've made sure I go through a good few solid cycles, I've adjusted my audio, screen brightness, everything! but the battery barely lasts 7-9hrs without dying.

Any help?

Re: BATTERY DRAINING OUT

The best advice I have read thus far is... to delete the Social Feeds app, turn down the screen brightness down to 60% - 70% (it comes at 100% out of the box) and set things like your Facebook updates to a greater interval (longer time).

Just some ideas.

Tried removing everything since I only use BBM,Email,Browser,Phone.

No joy. Battery dead after roughly 8 hours.

Edit: Brightness on 10% WiFi/Bluetooth/GPS off.

Re: BATTERY DRAINING OUT

I am on the phone with RIM third level support. Call your carrier and ask to speak to RIM technical support. They may initially dissuade you but keep on asking.

I am currently rebuilding from scratch and will let this group know what happens. I'll know by tonight if the battery life gets fixed.

Re: BATTERY DRAINING OUT

Just curious...has anyone else rebuilt their BB using AppLoader?  I don't mean just a Security Wipe.

Thanks,

Nick
