Hello,
From what you describe, I deduce that what you desire can only be diagnosed by a qualified hardware technician, with the device in their hands. I recommend that you seek out a local (to you) shop with a qualified BB technician and seek their advice.
Then again, you are still within 1 year of your purchase...if "play.com" is an authorized reseller, then you should have warranty, and should (quickly, given that Feb 2013 is swiftly approaching!!) seek help under your warranty terms (which may be "play.com" themselves or an authorized service center, depending on many factors...but your original purchase documentation should detail your specific warranty terms that you must follow).
Good luck!
