Re: BB Bold 9790 OS update STUCK

I followed your instructions.. got my phone into safe mode, connected it to Desktop Manager, removed the Social Feeds and Smart Card options then it automatically went into Backing up and it says it's backing up the SmartCard which is odd b/c I removed it from the Delete options as per the instructions..

Re: BB Bold 9790 OS update STUCK

It's that "automatic" part that worries me, because as you've described those steps, that just does not happen. So either there is something missing from the steps you've described, or something very very strange is going on.

Re: BB Bold 9790 OS update STUCK

I'm going with the "something strange going on" option b/c it's my luck with technology. If I take my phone out of Safe Mode now, will it still try to update over the air?

Given how strange your whole situation is, I no longer am comfortable predicting anything about it.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

Doing this might help your situation:

  • Go to Device > delete > SELECT DATA > select to delete both the Social Feeds and Smart Card databases, and follow the remaining prompts to complete it.

Or:

  • KB29522 "Error backing up databases" message is generated at Smart Card Options database when backing up the BlackBerry smartphone using the BlackBerry Desktop Software

Good luck!
