BB Icon on the top right corner of Home Screen

Hi, I have a Blackberry Bold 9780 and yesterday i tried connecting to a WiFi network at home. I was able to connect to the WiFi network successfully however there appeared a BB icon on the top right hand corner of the home screen next to the WiFi icon. it is not there always even when the Wifi is on, it appears sometimes and goes off and then again comes back. This is the first time am seeing this icon, can anyone let me know what is this.

Also, when my Wifi is active, how do i ensure that whatever i browse is done using the WiFi and not the data service.

Kindly clarify. Appreciate your time and help.

Regards,

Sandy

Cheers,
Sandeep

Re: BB Icon on the top right corner of Home Screen

The BlackBerry icon next to your mobile network signal indicates you are connected to the BlackBerry Internet Service.

Anytime you are connected to WiFi, all data is routed through WiFi.

That is the Blackberry Infrastructure. Even if your mobile coverage is off you can connect to the blackberry network an use the blackberry services. It may only appear is you hqve the blackberry data plan.
