I would suggest performing a register now by following the steps in this KB article and then try changing your BBM Avatar. If the issue still persists, then I suggest contacting your network service provider and ask to be transferred to BlackBerry as we will need to gather logs from the BlackBerry Curve 9320 smartphone.
