I have a BB Bold 9900 and the carrier is Vodafone in the UK. Im on holiday aborad and have been for the past month. I chose to leave my vodafone SIM in the phone and keep the wireless phone network off and just use BBM, whatsapp and my email whenever i could get wifi. This has been working perfectly for a month.
Last week the phone prompted me to update to OS 7.1. I did so and since then, my phone cannot connect to Blackberry Internet Services and therefore no bbm or emails can come or go (whatsapp is fine though...) even though my wifi is working perfectly.
I tried pulling the battery out and everything and it just won't connect. The host routing table has a whole list of alphanumeric code (which contain the word 'UK'). I also reinstalled BBM but it didn't help.
Can anyone please please please help me fix this - i need my bbm and emails and would prefer to not switch to a local carrier ![]()

Hi and Welcome to the Community!!
You might be in serious trouble...typically, it is not safe to update your OS while your BB is roaming off of your home network...when you update, some services are disabled and can be restarted with ease, but often only while the BB is "on" the home network, not roaming. Nevertheless, let's give this a try...
I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
1) Register HRT
2) Delete and Resend Service Books
3) Batt Pull Reboot
Now, if the first thing does not succeed, then there's no use in proceeding...you may well be totally stuck. As I said, updating is just not recommended while roaming.
Good luck!

Hey guys, i got the same problem with humzaay.
I tried step 1 but i didn't receive any message
At step 2: i have no that kind of "CMIME" account so i skipped
Tried to send service books using method 1(method 2 and 3 weren't suitable for me) and i couldn't acquire service connection.
This is very very strange

In which case, the root problem is most likely that your BB is not "on" it's home network, and cannot refresh any services until it is again operating "on" it's home network. Not strange at all...quite normal actually.
FYI...please note that proceeding to step 2 requires the success of step 1...since that did not succeed for you, proceeding at all to step 2 was actually completely moot in your situation.
Good luck!
