BBerry Bold 9650 - dead screen - how do I see password keeper contents on PC

The screen on my 9650 just died. I am not sure I will get it fixed, I may just get a new phone (not a BBerry this time). But if I don't get the screen replaced then how do I view the contents of my PWK that is backed up on my computer? Can anyone here help me figure this out?

Re: BBerry Bold 9650 - dead screen - how do I see password keeper contents on PC

Hey Abhik,

The screen just went blank yesterday. The phone still works as it did before. I can receive calls and I can make calls using speed dial #s or if I can blindly navigate my way to dialing a #. But I cannot read anything on the screen.

But my question has nothing to do with the screen. I want to know if I can recover the PWK contents from the backup file on the computer.

Hi miamispy,

Try these steps, might help in ur case...

download a Simulatr for Bold 9650 and installed the software. you can find the simulator at BlackBerry Smartphone Simulators - URL

http://na.blackberry.com/eng/developers/resources/simulators.jsp

Once the program is installed, run the program, which brings up an image of the phone.
now, start my Desktop Management Software and back in the Smartphone Simulator
In the menu, select "USB Cable Connected" which simulates connecting the smartphone.
Once u do this, the Desktop Management Software prompts u to create settings for then new phone.
Once u set up this new Virtual Phone, Restore ur backup from the Desktop Management Software to the New Virtual Phone.
u could then use the mouse to go to the Password Keeper and open the program. It will prompt u for ur password and all of the data appears.

Good Luck...

Re: BBerry Bold 9650 - dead screen - how do I see password keeper contents on PC

Hey Abhik,

This VM stuff is cool.

I've been trying to figure it out on my own so I wouldn't need to bug you with silly questions but...

What do you mean by "back in the simulator"?

I downloaded and ran VMPlayer, I ran the simulator on the desktop and it loaded automatically in the VMPlayer.

It wasn't an image of the phone, btw, just the BBerry logo and background. Then I opened the BBerry Desktop software.

But now what?...

Re: BBerry Bold 9650 - dead screen - how do I see password keeper contents on PC

Hold the phone, I take that back.
I am now starting to see other simulated stuff on the player.
But still, how do I load it into the BBerry Desktop manager?
And how do I go 'back' on the VMPlayer? I can make selections on the virtual phone but can't go back.

Thanks for your help.
