BOLD 9700 "requested facility not implemented" !!

I just got an unlocked Bold 9700 and i put  brand new sim card in, and everything works except for the texting. when i send a text it says "requested facility not implemented". i can recieve texts though. PLEASE HELP!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

 

Given that SMS (texting) is strictly a voice-level service, you need to contact your mobile service provider for formal support...SMS has nothing to do with BB-proprietary services.

 


 

On the other hand, if you mean some other form of texting (e.g., BBM), then the answer may be different.

 


 

Also...a wild guess...was this device truly brand new? Or did you buy it 2nd hand and/or it was possibly previously activated on a BES environment? You can check for a latent IT Policy via this procedure:

  • KB30076 How to check for an IT Policy on a BlackBerry smartphone

If there is a latent IT Policy, it may be what is blocking this service (and others, I'd wager) from functioning properly. You will need to cleanse the BB completely, if this is the case. To start, read the linked (from my auto-sig on this post) article regarding backups...you will need a full backup of all that discusses before proceeding. Then, use this to cleanse your BB:

  • KB31291 How to reset a BlackBerry smartphone to factory settings using BlackBerry Desktop Software

 

If you conduct a restore afterwards, DO NOT do a wholesale restore. Rather, restore only those few databases you require (e.g., contacts, calendar, etc.) but especially avoid any that deal with Enterprise or IT Policy...if you restore those, you'll wind up right back at the beginning.

It says that the transmitter is broken on the phone

"it" is the phone. the phone displays a messege saying "transmitter broken"

That just pops up on the homesceen, without you doing anything else? Or do you navigate to something and that displays? And is that the exact and complete content of what is displayed? That is a very odd message, one that I've never before seen, and can find no reference to in the public databases that are available...

Please help us to fully understand...100% of what we have to go on to understand your situation is your words here...we have no other information to help us understand your situation. We cannot see your device nor know what steps you may take in any situation. We need you to completely describe things so that we can understand.

Also, do you have any result from what I guessed up in post 2? You've mentioned nothing about that at all, so I'm not even sure if you've even read that yet...
