On the new Blackberry Desktop Manager ( version 4.6 , is in the package with your new device ), you can use Switch devices, and transfer all the information between the two devices.
To activate the new device, i suppose when you insert the sim to the new device, received a registration text, if not, call your Carrier and ask for activation.
If you received the registration text, and goes to your Carrier's web page, log on on your account, and you have the chance to activate the new device.
