BlackBerry Bold 9930 is dead with Red flashing light

Hello,

 

I recently got a Blackberry Bold 9930 and loved it until I woke up one morning and it was literally dead. The LED light flashes in increments of 10 seconds..some call it the "flashing red light of death."  The phone was reguarly plugged into the Blackberry  wall charger every night up until it died.  The phone was functioning perfectly in the days prior too.  After recognizing that the phone turned into a brick, I spent countless hours online looking for techniques and advice to help solve the problem.  In addition, Blackberry desktop manager does not recognize the device either so it can not be updated with the newer software.

 

I have tried the following:

-charging it without out the battery

-charging it with the battery

-charging without the battery and holding the power button down (this gets the red light to stop flashing, but the phone still doesn't turn on)

-plugging it into my computer and running the desktop manager---it gets to about the 6th step in connecting to the JVM and then quits

-switching batteries

-reinstalling and updating software

-plugging it in in 2 hour increments (the sequence that was provided for a previous posted problem on the forum that was similar to this)

 

Furthermore, the phone was taken in to my mobile carrier and they did a variety of tests thinking it was the battery and inserted fully charged battteries, still no results.  I am honestly at a standpoint right now and do not know who to contact at Blackberry, I prefer to not have to pay $49 to customer support  without knowing that I won't get an exact answer or a replacement phone (since this one is still under warrently).  I would really appreciate some help in taking the next step.

Given all you describe, it indeed sounds like your BB has experienced a hardware-level catastrophic failure of some kind. Of course, such cannot truly be diagnosed at an internet distance...only in hand evaluation by a qualified technician can give you a proper evaluation.

Since you remain under warranty, you should seek support under those terms. But, keep in mind that BlackBerry provides no front line support for anything, including warranty. You must seek out your warranty service provider -- which will be your original place of purchase or an authorized service center (it can vary by region). Your original purchase documentation should tell you exactly your warranty terms and how to exercise it. If you don't have that, then try asking your original place of purchase if they can tell you what your warranty provisions are.
