Blackberry 9790 (bold 5)keeps on rebooting

My blackberry 9790 keeps on rebooting. Also after fully charging it, the phone shows low battery once it reboots. Touch screen also has sopped functioning. Please suggest some course of action

Hello!

I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:

  • KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode

It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.

If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.



But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may need to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup to your PC...please review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post for instructions.

The blackberry now shows an error saying Initialization failed. Can't make or receive calls. Tried changing the sim too but it just wont work

Hmmm..."now"...hmmm...I wonder what state that is? Safe Mode? Normal boot? Normal boot after an OS reload? Something else? Please clarify...

So, you tried to go into Safe Mode, and this happened? You didn't try to go into Safe Mode and this just popped up? Some other sequence?

"can't connect"? To what? I do not understand, from those words, exactly the things you are attempting to do. Please clarify.

Also, please re-read (in it's entirety) post 2 above, for it already includes the things to do depending on the result of Safe Mode.

i cannot connect to the service provider to make calls. Vodafone is my service provider and i cant connect as the message flashs on the screen saying initalisation failed. I have tried changinfg the SIM cards however to no avail

OK...let me see if I understand. You successfully boot into Safe Mode, but receive "initalisation failed". I cannot tell, from your words, if that happens in a normal boot mode or not.

 

In any event, refer:

  • Article ID: KB33487 "Initialization Failed" is displayed on the BlackBerry smartphone and the network status indicator shows "SOS"

Failing all of that, I'd have to refer you to your mobile service provider and/or your original place of purchase (or a service center, if applicable in your region) for formal support.
