I am using bb 9780 with OS 6.0. I few days back I updated my Blackberry Application World to 3.1.0.60 but since then I am unable to locate my Application world icon on my home screen.
I checked my entire bb and even hidden files but its nowhere to be found. It shows in the installed applications list but nowhere in the blackberry. I even tried reinstalling it several times but still the problem is persistent.
Please help me on this.

Try deleting it from Options > Device > Applications.
then reboot the device with a powered on battery pull
Then reinstall.. .from your browser at www.blackberry.com/appworld

Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot. A reboot in this manner is prescribed for most glitches and operating system errors, and you will lose no data on the device doing this.
Now, look for the AW icon again. In all Folders, and in the Download Folder/Tab

connect your bb to the dekstop and from the dekstop software delete your AW. Then once your bb is restarted attached to the computer. Plug it off and reinstall AW on your bb. Once installed pul out your battery in the Power On mode for approx 2-3 mins. and then plug in. It would work. Mine to worked like this.
