Blackberry Bias!

Hi,

The older Blackberries Needed a BIS or BES to have the BBM and other social apps running but I have heard and noticed that with the new Blackberry OS 10 series you just need to have a basic internet plan and everything from BBM to social apps all run fine, why cant this be inducted in other blackberries or just a marketing gimmick by Blackberry or OS 10 has something really special.

Regards,

Re: Blackberry Bias!

When travelling, the new BB10 are great because I pop in a SIM card and the phone, email, apps and internet browsing works like when I'm in my home country.

However when back at home, the BIS offer data compression like 3 to 6 times.  Thus I'm now paying higher data costs.  I wish it was something I can choose as an option.  Have the BIS at home, but disable it when I want speed and travelling.

Re: Blackberry Bias!

It's the way the legacy BBOS device hardware is designed.

Since this is a user to user forum, you won't get BlackBerry developer response to this, but from users such as yourself.

Re: Blackberry Bias!

You have the answer, and it is correct. Legacy requires BIS, BB10 does not use BIS. That is the way it is.
