Hi,
I have bought new Blackberry Bold 9900 with OS 7 after I saw new OS 7.1 with hotspot feature OS7.1 for blackberry 9900 in blackberry official site, but did not find OS 7.1 in any of carriers and I am not able to upgrade to OS 7.1.
Can any one tell me where I can find update software OS 7.1 so I can update my blackberry 9900 so I can use hotspot feature
Best Regards

OS 7.1 is not officially available yet. I understand it is being tested with one carrier in the US (Verizon?), but nowhere else. You will need to wait till RIM release OS 7.1 to your carrier and after they have tested it and trained their support staff then they will release it to you.
So sit back and wait for a few weeks I suggest. There are some websites offering the 'leaked' OS 7.1 but I would not go down that route if I were you. No one will be able to support you if anything goes wrong with the installation or its use after installation.

Good advice from mkatkinson, however many of the advanced users here are familiar with OS 7.1, so if you decide to go that route we can help you with any issues that arise.
I hope that helps you. ![]()

Does anyone know when Rogers will release OS7.1 to the public? I see that OS7.1 is already available in the RIM official sites. However, I cannot update the OS using desktop manager.
Anyone has any info?

FYI I've had battery drainage problems with my Bold 9900 since I got it. I'd lose the full charge in about 12 hours with limited usage and while mostly in standby. I got the battery replaced under warranty but still had the issue with a brand new battery.
PROBLEM SOLVED - Yesterday I downloaded and installed OS 7.1 and it seems the battery issue is resolved. It's only been a day and I don't know what happened but I'm thankful my BB 'energy demon' is gone.
If you've experienced battery issues, try the 7.1 upgrade for a 'fix'.

I am with Virgin Mobile and updated my phone. After updating I had problems only with Blackberry maps. After 2 weeks plugged it into my computer and it wanted to update some of the modules. After that the phone is much more responsive and maps works fine. (I only updated via my phone to see how it would work for testing.)
So in ending anyone updating to 7.1 I would do it through the Desktop software as I think through my wifi something didnt quite take in the update. Other than Blackberry maps the phone worked fine.
Warning the update takes up to 2hrs. Mine was done in over an hour. It is safe as the update does backup everything before updating. Thanks RIM! Excellent software update. The browser is much improved and the new version of java works better. Blackberry Traffic as well is great with voice navigation.
Virgin (Owned by Bell) just released 7.1. The carriers have had the update for over a month and they have to authorize what features the wish and can support. Hopefully the others will follow suit soon.

I'm lookin for the same answer, I'm in Thunder Bay and we run on the Rogers network too through our local carrier TBaytel and I really want OS7.1 for it's features and would like to know when it's gonna be out too.
