Ok, finally installed.
Guess what... no Maps icon!
I can see Blackberry Maps on the BIS desktop and its checked, and on the Bold I can go to Options > Advanced Options > Applications, and Blackberry Maps is installed with a version of 4.6.0. But no way of accessing it!
I don't suppose there is a generic / debranded rom out there cos obviously Orange really dont want to show the Maps app?

I have tried with downloading the software again and reloading, but the BlackBerry Maps, GPS or even Goolge Maps will not work on the device. With BB Maps I get "No Data Available" and it the GPS is always trying and comming up with "Searching for satellites".
I have just had "A network error was encounted. Check your server settings." I am not trying to connect to a server, unless BBMaps require a data connection to work, which means I will never have BB Maps.
With Google Maps, it starts to load, but freezes at 10% and I have to push the red button to get out of it. Can someone advise from RIM what needs to be done to have the BB Maps working on a non data enabled phone?

Ok, I've downloaded the Optus install too. Installed both Orange UK and Optus and compared both. Looked up an old hack to show the maps by removing the vendor.xml and editing the LBS.ALX. Tried every connotation and it still doesn't show a maps icon.
I think I'm going to have to stick with Google Maps as my second rate navigation!
Thanks for all the help anyway.
ps. Mike, will you let us know how you get on with your call to Orange. Cheers

I tried to use Google maps. It initially froze at 10%, but won't work with the GPS. i.e. uses cell site tracking.
I had a look at the GPS settings, they are on and I was outside in the countryside. The GPS couldn't seem to pick up signal and was showing my location as all zeros. The GPS says it's on, as is the the 'location' setting.
Any ideas?
