Re: Blackberry ID not recognising password/email login

Ummm...OK? I think? I'm not quite sure I understood that bit...but, do you mean you are all good to go now? I'm not sure...

Re: Blackberry ID not recognising password/email login

Haha i'm not surprised.

I'm not sure. I'm currently on 8/10 attempts. The new password is working on the bbid website but not on my phone. On the bbid website under my account settings it shows a different password.

This has to be the most confusing thing ive ever come across.

Re: Blackberry ID not recognising password/email login

Are you sure you are typing the password correctly on the device? For example, if there is a mixture of different characters, then you must be sure to enter those correctly on the BB keyboard. For instance, if your password is

  • ab123

and you enter

  • a > b > ALT > 1 > 2 > 3

the actual result will be

  • ab1er

You must enter

  • a > b > ALT > 1 > ALT > 2 > ALT > 3

in order to wind up with ab123. So, in this example, while on the BB keyboard you think you are typing ab123, you are actually typing ab1er.

So double check that to be sure that the proper characters, not just proper keys, are being used on the BB for the credentials.

Re: Blackberry ID not recognising password/email login

Hi,

yup 100% I made sure the password was simple to avoid that problem, even been using the show password function to make sure it has been inputted correctly.

Re: Blackberry ID not recognising password/email login

And you are using, on the device, the exact same credentials (ID and password) as you use for the BB ID website (when you login via PC/browser)?

Re: Blackberry ID not recognising password/email login

Wow...very strange indeed...for, with those conditions, the error message you reported ('The Username and password do not correspond to a valid blackberry ID') just makes no sense at all. Other error messages would make sense, but not that one...strange indeed...

So, lets do some steps to be sure that basic connectivity between your BB and your carrier data network is in place. With a strong carrier network signal (not WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):

1) Register HRT

  • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
  • Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app

2) Resend Service Books

  • KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
  • Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.

3) Batt Pull Reboot

  • With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Let's see if you can now get the BB ID credentials to take. Of course, if steps 1 and 2 do not result exactly as listed, then you will need to contact your mobile service provider for formal support.

Good luck!
