Blackberry Protect

I recently lost my BB 9700.  I tried using my blackberry protect app, but it does not locate the phone at all. I have tried wiping the data, but it still shows as the device never been found. My sim does not work on that BB anymore, but once the person that steals it puts their sim on it, will it wipe my phone still? does blackberry protect work directly with pin? not with sim?

I'm desperate for answers!

Re: Blackberry Protect

Hi paco21

The BlackBerry® Protect™ app requires that your BlackBerry® smartphone is connected to the wireless network.  If you have deactivated your SIM card, the BlackBerry® Protect™ app will be unable to contact your device to perform the requested functions.

Thanks

Re: Blackberry Protect

A new SIM card would not be linked to your BlackBerry® ID and thus, the BlackBerry® Protect™ app will not connect to the device.

Thanks

Re: Blackberry Protect

Blackberry Protect is basically useless if someone steals your phone and they take out the sim card right away.

If the phone still had a password lock on it, the wipe there only cleans out everything on the phone but not on the media card, right?
