So, i am planning to buy a new blackberry BOLD from dubai duty free....

will it work in india?

will i have to unlock it?

whats with the imei number, a friend of mine said that " the phone will work in india if the imei number starts with 350"

is that true?

Yes you will need to unlock it IF it is not branded to your carrier (which I doubt it will be).

I don't know anything about the IMEI required to start with 350, that would be news to me. I have read of a number Indian users buying and unlocking BlackBerrys, and have never heard of or read that.

You should not have any problems as long as your Indian carrier offers a BlackBerry Data Plan.
