Hi Dorothy_52,
Welcome to the BB Community...
Who ever told you that you can charge and sync at the same time has misinformed you. The standard OEM charging pod by RIM is only that "a charging pod" as you can see it uses the little contacts on the sides to charge your device, one is positive one is negative. There is no extra connections that allow data to be transfered back and forth. You would require an additional 2 pins to allow for data - and data +
Sorry that you have been mislead but the only data connection on the Bold is through the USB port on the Left side. not even after market pod would allow you to do this since there is no exposed pins to do this with.
For charging, u can connect ur BB to ur PC/Laptop via USB and charge it if ur BB Socket charger is not working.

Hi,
in ur first post, u have said that the charging piece of ur handset is snapped off, so there is no way u can charge ur BB using a charger untill u get that charging piece of ur BB repaired...
There is no such setting that u need to change for the charging to take place,am sry...
else, u can charge ur BB by connecting ur BB to ur PC/Laptop using a USB cable till u get ur charging piece of ur BB repaired...

unfortunately it cannot be repaired it was only weeks old when it happened, the phone it's self is still not a year old, because it was on sale i paid cash from a friends friend catalogue even though i paid in full the catalogue told me to contact Blackberry and Blackberry told me to contact the catalogue which i did both of them blame the other but have tried to have it repaired and told that it could not, i have a wall battery charger but every time i take the battery out i have to reset the phone so i bought the charging dock now that won't work

Hi Dorothy_52,
Very sorry to hear that...guess, then u need to replace the charging piece of ur BB without any warranty(u have to pay for it) but u should replace it from a authorised BB Service Center...
Else, there is no other way to charge ur BB...sry...![]()
