Bold 9000: White Screen with Battery and Blue thunderbolt screen

Hello people.

I have an older BlackBerry Bold 9000 which i wish to use as a secondary phone. Recently, I reformatted my device because of some JVM error. Now when i turn on my device I get a white screen with a battery image in the middle with a blue thunderbolt. I have tried to used the BlackBerry Desktop Software to reformat it once again however it fails to do so as during the update it where it states "Reconnecting To JVM"; it fails: "Application Loader was unable to connect with the device. Please reconnect with your device. Enter the password if required and click retry." I reconnect thedevice and I see the same white screen again. What should I do?? Please help me!!!

Please use plain text.
