The trackpad on my Bold 9700 stopped working last night. It scrolled but would not register being pressed. Followign advice elsewhere on this site, I downloaded the desktop manager and backed up the device, then installed a new operating system (version 6).
Now nothing on the BB is working. It is stuck on the terms and conditions screen that starts "This handheld device includes software that it proprietary and confidential to Research In Motion Limited. . ." I can see there is a blue arrow at the bottom, implying I need to scroll down and accept the terms and conditions, but as none of the keyboard is responding, I can't do this.
Any ideas?

The same thing just happened to me when I downloaded OS 6.
I downloaded to my computer and then to my bold 9700. No problems doing this.
But, now my trackball doesn't work and I can't scroll down to accept the terms and conditions
and I am stuck with all that text on my screen.
Extremely frustrating! I called the ATT store and they were not helpful. I was told that Blackberry
has had problems with the OS 6. Then the rep looked up my account and told me I was eligible
for a new phone and she told me to come into the store and get a I phone. Sounds like ATT is bailing
on Blackberry and really pushing the I phones. The I4 will go down in price when the I4S hits the shelves,
so i will wait. Until then, i still have to get my worthless bold 9700 fixed.

Interesting that it's happened to you too. After reading what you said about BB having trouble with OS6, I took a gamble and downgraded to OS5. It has worked, the BB is working again (phew!)
I am back in the position I was in before - the trackpad not registering a click, but it scrolls now and I can use the return key for selecting. This will do until Dec, when my contract runs out and I can get an upgrade!
VERY unimpressed with OS6 mucking up the phone though. BB needs to sort this out asap. ![]()
Hope you get yours sorted out - in a way you helped me!

It's not OS 6 mucking up the phone, per se. It's the carriers that are convinced that a 256 MB phone can handle the size of OS 6 and are releasing it to their users for download. OS 6 is a wonderful Operating System if you have a phone which can handle it, which translates to any phone with 512 MB of onboard memory or more. The Bold 9700 has only 256 MB of memory.
I would suggest to anyone who has OS 6 installed on a 9700 and who is having problems with it to revert back to OS 5 ASAP.
I hope I've cleared things up for you. ![]()

Thanks Bill. I wish OS6 came with a health-warning for the older phones in that case! I'm looking forward to seeing how great it is in December!

Mine does the same thing. The weird thing is, I had 6.0 working perfectly on my phone. It got wet and caused the E button to stick. I thought it might be a good idea to wipe it clean and re-install 6.0 to see if it fixed the problem and it did not. I then downgraded to 5.0 and works perfect. Has there been any fix for this yet? 6.0 runs much smother on my phone.
