Thank you so much for your assistance sdgardne.

I took the phone to a repairer who dissembled it and said the hardware was fine. His own SIM card worked in it. Mine worked in another phone but not my BB. Eventually he concluded I had a virus and would have to clean it totally. He did and reloaded V6.0 and the SIM worked fine.

Fortunately I had Outlook with my contacts and calendar which I synced but all apps and my Blackberry Wallet were gone.

The Wallet was the biggest inconvenience by a long way.

I will now follow your advice so hopefully if it occurs again I will be able to at least get my password keeper back.

While I am glad he got it working, I disagree with the diagnosis...the results with different SIM cards (his working fine in your device) would not indicate that your device had any sort of virus. Indeed, there is no documented virus infection of a BB device anywhere, anytime...none. Rather, something else must actually have been the problem, but from the results (especially the SIM results) I cannot conclude what that might have been.

 

Whatever the true root cause was, reloading the OS was indeed the proper treatment. I'm glad he was able to do that for you and get your device working again.
