In the past few weeks, my battery started dying really quickly. Before it would last at least a couple of days even with browsing and using apps. Then it started dying after less than 10 hrs, and even dying while it was more than half full. I went to the Orange shop and they said because I'd left the battery charging overnight, it was now leaking and I needed a new one, which I promptly bought. However, I still have the same problem. I need to charge my phone everyday, and even though I turn it off at night, it still lasts some 10 hrs. I've done the software upgrade and it made no difference at all. I've heard of apps running in the background and draining the battery, but I always had apps and never had this problem before and I can't believe that you can't have apps or else your battery won't last more than half a day!
Any ideas? I can't believe that Blackberrys last less than 18 months and I'm going to have to buy a new phone!

Im having the same issue, and trying to look for solutions ... not clear whats going on ...
Did you take out the wifi.. that use a lot of battery.
And facebook to search for new posts every 2 hours or so
You should bring your back light low .
I already did those things but still . I even cancel tweeter .... not sure whats wrong ... the same as you trying to find some solutions ....

Thanks I'm going to try that! I had given up on having Blackberries - I went to speak to an IT specialist at work who handles the Blackberry phones they give out to employees and he said it was just the way these phones are, the more modern the less the battery lasts. He actually told me that the warranty is 2 years and I could try to get the phone changed, and to use only 2G and not Wi-fi or 3G because they use more battery, which worked ok at first (battery was lasting more like 2 days than 10 hrs) but that doesn't work anymore... I was just going to buy a new phone and was thinking of switching to Android or something (although I don't really like touch screen phones)... let's see if this works!

It was happening with me as well, I had a problem with a Java application and after I backed up my phone and reset the applications again it worked as the beginning. Some applications kill your battery and its not fb or twitter are others like games or whatsapp, etc.

I had a similar problem, and now it has been fixed. Problem was due to having location based apps that use GPS constantly running in the background. and i think also SD card, I was able to fix my problem by :
- Closing background apps : this just hold the BB Menu button for a few seconds. That should launch a screen with all your apps then you can go into each app and be sure to exit out.
- Turn Off location service when you are not using it : Option/Device/Location Setting.
- Turn the BB Compression Setting off. Select "Options -> Device -> Storage", and remove the checkmark from the "Enable Compression" setting."
Good luck
