Bold 9790 volume controls

Can anyone help. The volume buttons on the right side of the phone don't work when I am viewing a video. The bottom one acts as a mute button which I can't turn off while watching the video. I can only turn the sound to handset sound using the Alt $ button

Re: Bold 9790 volume controls

Hello tlhabas and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.

Sorry to hear you're having an issue with your volume keys.

When you are listening to music files, are you able to adjust the volume? Or does this only happen with Videos?

Are these videos ones you've downloaded or are you streaming them from the web from a site, such as YouTube?

Thanks!

Hi there! Thanks for looking into my problem.

The buttons don't work when playing music either. The videos are from streeming like youtube.

Re: Bold 9790 volume controls

To rule out a software issue, backup your device data (See KB12487 How to back up the data on a BlackBerry smartphone) then follow the steps in KB11320 How to perform a clean reload of the BlackBerry Device Software for Windows (or if you use a Mac please see KB19915 Perform a clean reload of BlackBerry smartphone application software using BlackBerry Desktop Software on a Mac computer)

Before you restore any data, try the keys to see if they work.

If not, then most likely the issue is hardware related, in which case you will need to contact your point of sale for repair options.

Hope this helps.
