Cool, well I know a couple of people on .296 and they are hating the battery life. Mostly social network users.

The new one is a big difference.

I've not seen anything new still shocking must have a really really BEEP battery! thank god for mobile chargers I got from play.com

I have a spare battery but only tend to use is if I couldn't get a socket. But since friday its been a lot better.

Fact is we all need to wait till RIM upgrade OS7 because the battery isn't living up to our needs

Hi all,

I have tried below tricks and it can extend battery life:

Trick #1:

1. Go to "Option" menu --> "Device" -->"Advanced System Settings"

2. Go to "Browser Push" and "Disable Push"

Trick #2:

You can disable notification of the groups. The phone is busy all the time retrieving the notification. This can consume battery life.

1. Go to "BBM" icon and go to any of group you have

2. Go to the top of the heading, and click

3. on the bottom side, you will find "Turn Off All Notifications For This Group" and choose "YES"

Trick#3:

Change 2G & 3G to be 2G setting, to use only GPRS for chatting. If you don't want to receive e-mail notification and use only chatting, GPRS is more than enough. Using 3G will consume more power i believe...

Trick #4:

Turn Off manually the GPS location. Bold 9900 does not come with automatic turn-off for GPS.

Trick #5:

On your BBM profile, choose "options" and then go to "miscellaneous", then un-tick "Show Chats in Messages Application"

I have done above above tricks and can expand battere life from 12 hours to be 24 hours.

They all sound good but my phone has gone from needing charged after 6-7 hours to lasting almost the full day just by installing .474

It took a day or so to settle but seems a big improvement.

Hey guys and girls,

I've had my 9900 for a while now and I'm on my OS is 7.0.0.474 - platform 5.0.0.645.  I have a brand new battery and still with this when I turn my phone off at night and on again in the morning I'm losing 15-20% battery life.

Any ideas what may be causing such a heavy loss?  I log out of all social media and the only thing that's connected to anything is BBM.  I have bluetooth, wifi and NFC all off and I constantly keep my device on 2g.

Would it be a good idea for me to wipe my device and re-install the OS from scratch?  If so, what's the dest way to wipe the device and OS completely?  I've had a search about and all I can find is the security wipe to get rid of data.

New update: as of today OS .503 has appeared which I am told is being tested by various carriers as a release update. Only been running for a couple of hours so still to settle however if its as good as .474 or better then its worth the change.
