Re: Bold 9900 Battery Life

Lol...I did one better. Out the box yesterday I just wiped the white one I got and had .205 on it while I drove home. (Nice and safe but left the laptop too it)

Not seen any ghosting at all on it and the battery life is looking better than my own 9900.

Only times I have battery drain now seems to be due to the handset trying to gain signal in places.

Re: Bold 9900 Battery Life

So RIM's solution for our battery issues appears to be by including a Battery Saving Mode on OS's after 7.1.0.258 it appears.

We will wait and see.

Re: Bold 9900 Battery Life

So any rumor when is .258 leaking out?

I think that mode will be no much more than what Batt plus does, telling you what is running in the background that you aren't using.

Am not expecting much creativity from RIM.

Re: Bold 9900 Battery Life

Well .247 has just leaked for the 9790 yesterday and it has the mode I believe. However that is the 1st 7.1 leak for that bold.

Hopefully it will appear soon. And the Battery save mode changes the phone settings once it drops to a certain level. Brightness etc.

Re: Bold 9900 Battery Life

Haa, all my settings are already at its lowest to save batt life. Like I thought, RIM can't be too creative.

Re: Bold 9900 Battery Life

I was reading the Torch section just now on their battery issue. Similar to ours. Well no surprise, Torch uses same 7.1OS platform. Many suspect the OS power mgmt is faulty as well.

Anyway a person name Jerry G suggests enabling 'APN' (under Option / Device// Advanced System settings).

Any of you guys have that optioned enabled?

I think it basically helps stream data more directly.

Re: Bold 9900 Battery Life

I have had it on and off with little difference. Also tried the BlackBerry APN rather than the Orange one but in the end I just stick with the local one. :smileyhappy:

Re: Bold 9900 Battery Life

Ian, thank you for the quick feedback.

When I enable it I can't tell if it's enabled or not. No indicator other than the check mark.

Also that I can't tell if I need to enable both the APN and its authenication box. And if I do, after I put in user name and password as 'guest' or leaving those entries blank, I get no feedback if the entries are correct or not. The phone just prompts me to 'save' upon existing.

Any thought?

Re: Bold 9900 Battery Life

I had v7.0.0.585 before. This is my 2nd day with .205 leak and my battery is another thing, totally. It looks really good. I was thinking to go backdown to ex .585 because it was so fast and reactfull but battery improvement of .205 wins. I found also on contacts panel the edit button....yesss whay not?!!!  :smileyhappy:

Re: Bold 9900 Battery Life

The authorisation again depends on your carrier. Mine requires a dot for the username and same for the password. Best bet is google APN settings for your network.

BB9900- glad you like it, it looks like we might have another higher leak soon also but that might still be a couple of weeks away.
