Re: Bold 9900 Battery Life

I wonder if the updating of OS version from .261 to .735 helps. It seems to be fine without those battery issues ser se under normal usage on 3G network. Handling about x tens of emails and smses.

Re: Bold 9900 Battery Life

I agree, 7.1 latests is 7.1.0.267

7.0 latest is .598 so you would be batter using that.

But to be honest @Stan, I would make the jump to 7.1. The new options and the cleared icons make it worth moving to.

Re: Bold 9900 Battery Life

Ww I'm now losing 3% per hour on my bold when minimum using it and 5-8% per hour maximum

By far the best os I've loaded on my bold :smileyvery-happy:

Also it helped going back to 2g and 3g setting

Re: Bold 9900 Battery Life

Has any one had much luck with the 3600MA Long Life Battery for the Bold 9900? is this the answer to having a battery last a days work?

Why can’t Blackberry make a phone with a simple menu option, like below:

Battery Power Mode.

Long Life Battery Mode            (turns the phone into a 9700)

List the things that get turned off etc. for maximum battery saving Mode.

Then have a Tick box that you can switch items on/off if you need say Bluetooth or loud Ring Volume

  • Display brightness (lowest setting)
  • Wi-Fi
  • Blue Tooth
  • Geo Tagging GPS
  • Face Book etc (Apps)
  • Blackberry World
  • Internet fast processor (switches across to 9700 processor)
  • Ring Volume Loudest setting off
  • Touch Screen off

Short Life Battery Mode            (turns the phone into a 9900)

Then have a Tick box that you can switch items back on/off

Maybe show a percentage sign next to each item and on/off tick box. showing how that item consumes the battery power.

Example

Touch screen On = 60%

Internet Fast Processor On = 80%

9700 Processor On = 30%

  • Display brightness (lowest setting)
  • Wi-Fi on
  • Blue Tooth on/off
  • Geo Tagging GPS
  • Face Book etc. (Apps)
  • Blackberry World
  • Internet fast processor (switches across to 9700 processor)
  • Ring Volume Loudest setting on
  • Touch Screen on

I am sure the Technical people can make a phone be a 9700 when required and then back to 9900 or somewhere in between to tailor a phone for each user needs.

Just give us the choice rather than make a phone with no choices.

A simple easy button, that you don’t have to go into a Sub menu to switch ON/OFF Battery saving Mode

Re: Bold 9900 Battery Life

Don't give up so soon, @rdl, I haven't touched the larger battery although I have seen a 1400mah on the market using the same backplate.

Getting easily a full day myself on 3G fixed. UMA in the house. Bluetooth for playbook and car kit.

Have been using hotspot now successfully as well.

The phone has just got so much better.

Re: Bold 9900 Battery Life

I called the service center and complained about the latest 7.1 haven't very little effect on prolonging battery life even with the Batt Save mode on. Those guys got back to RIM to get their comment.

RIM said that the function would just minimize screen brightness and very small adjustments of that sort. It doesn't do much (actually I know how non-creative RIM is). So for people has gotten all those very basic adjustments taken care of shouldn't expect much.

Ha, 'surprise...'!!

Re: Bold 9900 Battery Life

[ Edited ]

on 9900 - I get 1% battery drainage for every 1 minute of 3G usage. So a 60 minute browsing on 3G would put my battery to 40%. All settings tuned down and no aps running. That's on 7.0.0.540 as well as 7.1.0.267

Is 60 minute browsing considered what - light, moderate, heavy usage?
