Bold 9900 - OS 7 - New Calendar Killing Me

[ Edited ]

Please Help!

I just got new Blackberry 9900 running V.7.0. For the most part I like the device. Most of the features and functions are great...Except one...The most important one!

This is my 3rd Blackberry. I've had a Curve 8830 and more recently a Bold 9700, running V.5.0 I beleibusiness ve. I am completely reliant on the calendar to manage my time and remind me to do things. The best part of the old set up was that I could bring up the calendar and ta-da, there was my entire work week, showing the a full day from 8:00am to 5:00 or 6:00pm. (SEE PIC)

By default the unit, when in week view, will only display 4 or 5 hours of the day. (SEE PIC) I've been trolling the forums to try and find a way to modify it to the disired view however all I've been able to find are complaints about this not being possible and many a ticked user. It's hard to beleive that BB could have been so ignorant on this one so I just had to come here to see if there is a fix as, this renders this 9900 pretty useless for me.

To be clear, I understand that one can go in and configure what time the day begins and ends - This is not the issue. The problem is what is displayed in any given view without having to scroll up and down.

I've also tried all the the thrid party that I could find. None really do this. The only one that is close is calendar pro but this app leave a lot to be desired. Pocket informant seemed to do everything...Except what I needed it to do.

Ideally there would be some way to install the older calendar on the new os but I have no idea as to how this might be done. Someone suggested Blackberry Swiss Army Knife, but the documentation is very unclear and I don't want to mess the unit up completely.

If I can get the old calendar running I don't care if it works with touch screen. As long as it word as well as it did on the old device.

Does anyone know how I might do this?

I'm thinking of sending back my new 9900 for the exact same reason. Blackberry calendar was so awesome on previous devices, but this one really suck.  I can't seem to find a way to contact Blackberry support.

I am finding it frustrating too. I use the BB calendar for work and I am thinking of getting a Playbook but not convinced that it would be a good investment. I have spoken to other professional users and they are having the same issues and are looking at other alternatives.

Re: Bold 9900 - OS 7 - New Calendar Killing Me

Many thanks. It's very discouraging to see that so many have this problem but there are no solutions. I very much look forward to anything positive that comes from the developer forum.

To scadman (BLACKBERRY I HOPE YOU'RE LISTENING HERE), Out of principal I wouldn't give RIM another penny of your money by purchasing a Playbook. The mere fact that one can't reach their support is objectionable. They will never one more of my hard-earned dollars unless they get this together and begin paying attention to their customers.

i just installed Calendar Pro. It is not perfect but their weekly view is close to what we want. I am still evaluating it, i think the app is around $15.- which is a bit expensive. here is the link if you are interested http://tinyurl.com/6tu87jl  (i am not affiliated to them)

Hi,

I just had a user point this out to me as well, moving from 9000 to 9900.  Very annoying problem with the calendar.  I have opened a support ticket with RIM, we own BES T-support.  Not too optomistic, but we'll see.

Cheers

Hey - Appreciate the tip. I've actually already used that - I've tried every calendar available. Nothing had the perfect simplicity that the last BB calendar did.....

I'm still searching.

Thanks - I'm still holding out for someone to find a solution through the developer arena

I agree. The one in OS5 was perfect. I suspect this one to have been developped for the Torch serie. I had no answer so far from the developer forum. I like the 9900 but this calendar is such a let down.

Re: Bold 9900 - OS 7 - New Calendar Killing Me

OK. This is now beginning to really bug me. I have downloaded the Blackberry Desktop Software with the intention of synching my BB with Outlook. It starts to run the program then an error message appears. connector specific error. I can not sunchronize with my outlook appointments. Does anyone know how to sort this. Please.

To rub salt in my wounds my wife has just bought an iphone and it works. That is all I want. A phone that works because if BB doesn't then I will get another one that does. Simple.
