Bold 9900 T-Mobile Not Recieving E-Mail or BBM on Mobile Data

Hi everyone,

 

I have a Bold 9900 that I have only had for a few weeks. Last night, out of nowhere, I noticed that a new BBM messages did not send. After trying to figure out what the issue was, I also noticed that nothing Mobile Data-related was working at all. No emails, instant messaging, browser functions. I turned my Data on and off, connected and disconnected from Wi-Fi, and used the Host Routing Table to register with the network. None of it worked.

I then used the diagnostics test to figure out what network functions were failing, and this is what I got:

 

Radio Data Activation: Yes

Signal Level: -77 dBm

Radio Access: UMTS

Network: T-Mobile

IP Address: (Obscured)

ICMP Ping Echo: Yes

 

Blackberry Registration: Yes

Connected to BlackBerry: No

BlackBerry: PIN-PIN: Abort


Server Name: BISE05C14S04

Email Address: (Obscured)

Connected to (Obscured): Abort

Server Name: BISE05C14S10

Email Address: (Obscured)

Connected to (Obscured): Abort

 

Application Version: v7.1.0.912

Platform Version: 5.1.0.641

 

Free File Space: 172582197 bytes

Does anyone have any answers for me? It's very disabling not to be able to use mobile data.

Also, to clarify, a battery pull or soft reset did not fix my issue, unfortunately.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

With a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):

1) Register HRT

  • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
  • Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app

2) Resend Service Books

  • KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
  • Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.

3) Reboot

  • With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
  • See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support.

Wow, thanks a ton, sdgardne!

I tried what you asked, and although it did not solve the issue, it revealed what the issue was. When I rebooted the phone and tried to test the web browser, a popup appeared that told me I didn't have the right data plan for this device.

I called T-Mobile immediately and made the switch and the problem was resolved immediately.
