Bold 9900 switches off

Hi, I have a bold 9900 I got on contract with vodacom. I am trying to sell the phone but when ever someone puts a new SIM card in the phone and does a wipe, then one just switches off like 5 seconds after booting up. To turn it back on you have to remove the battery, but it then only stays on for about 5 seconds. All the software is up to date as far as I know. I think it has to do with my carrier and the phone still being on contract, but not sure, please help. Thanks

Re: Bold 9900 switches off

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

First off, please be sure that you have done EVERYTHING in this KB:

  • KB05099 Steps to take before selling or after buying a previously owned BlackBerry smartphone

Next, if indeed the user intends to use this on a different carrier, then be sure that the BB is unlocked:

Good luck!

PS -- if perhaps your BB was associated with BES, then in addition you need to conduct this as part of your SELLER steps:

  • KB31291 How to reset a BlackBerry smartphone to factory settings using BlackBerry Desktop Software
