Bold 9900 unresponsive

Hi everyone, i need help!! i bought the blackberry bold 9900 3 weeks ago and it was super fast, but now, it is still fast but most of the time stops responding, so i have to pull the battery out, i have been doing this around 5 times for three days, and the media player most of the times "device media processor stopped responding/is busy" . the weird thing is that all of the apps are closed, i don't know why its stops responding, every time i take a lot of pictures or video. how could a smartphone like this stop responding although it has a 1.2GHZ processor and 768 MB ram which is more than enough for a smartphone like this one. Application Storage: i have 95.9 MB free and the system is using 280.1 MB which is almost half the storage for applications. Memory: currently the system is using 433.7 MB which is also half the capacity of memory. P.S. i pulled the battery out 15 min. ago i am using an external microsd sandisk card 8GB class 4, to save all my files in it (songs, pictures, videos, pdf, word documents,etc...) there is 1.8GB left out of the 7.8GB. The Built in Media storage is 6.0GB and there is 5.8GB free of it. Shouldn't it work faster because i have a lot of free space on the built in media storage. is it a problem with the microsd card should i use another one for example class 10. Or is it a problem with the new software? I need help please, im starting to regret buying this phone, although i love it. Thankss :smileyhappy:

Re: Bold 9900 unresponsive

Hi, unleahsuraelf, thanks for ur help, but that didn't work either, after I got into safe mode by a couple of hours, when I tried to play a song it didn't even load the album art, I left it for a min. And nothing changed so I turned the phone off and on twice but that didn't work, I had to pull the battery, is there anything I can do, its really inconveniant of a smartphone especially a blackberry.

Re: Bold 9900 unresponsive

It sounds to me like you got a lemon.  All your memory specs are within acceptable limits so you shouldn't be having these problems.

Whenever something doesn't go right with a phone, I always recommend a battery pull at first.  It sounds like you've done a few of these already so I would recommend jumping right to an OS reload.  You don't even have to load a new OS, many times loading the same OS to your phone will correct problems.  I don't know why and I don't question it, I just know it works.

So go ahead and plug your phone in to your PC and open BlackBerry Desktop Software.  If you don't have it installed on your PC, you can find it at www.blackberry.com/desktop .  Once your phone has connected to the software, click Device at the top of the software then Restore.  Choose the most recent restore point and load it.

Try that and post back with your results.  :smileyhappy:

Re: Bold 9900 unresponsive

Hi BillJ, thanks for the help. i did the restore, and after i did it, whenever i try to unlock the phone and press enter, it freezes, i turned it off and on again twice, my last choice is pulling the battery. i really got confused with this phone, i dunno what to do, should i return it, or talk to someone in blackberry, like a specialist.

Hi Theo9900,

Thanks for your Post..!!

1.) Try by un-installing all 3rd party apps, if not works then

2.) Take Complete Backup including internal media and perfrom a security wipe & then observe

3rd party removal :-

Thanks for your Post...!!

Please go to Blackberry App World from Home screen > My World > By changing option in Top Installed or un-installed check whether these apps are showing there in any list. If it is shwoing in un-installed list then click on the app and re-install it again.

Re: Bold 9900 unresponsive

Hi unleashurself, the two things I am talking about aren't applications, when I used to go to device options there was battery saving mode thing, after the device and status information. The second one which is the device analyzer. Was in advanced system settings which is also under device options, bot of them disappeared.
Thankss :smileyhappy:
