Cannot add Internet Email Account - BES activated

Hello Experts,

 

I have a Bold 9700

Unblocked

Using it in Luxembourg with Tango

6.0 Bundle 1879 (v6.0.0.448, Platform 6.6.0.124)

43,9Mb of free space

Removed battery several times

 

I did the BES activation and I am able to send and receive emails with my corporate email account.

 

I want now to activate a personal email account, for that I go to:

 

Setup -> Emal accounts -> Internet Mail Account

 

I get a blank screen with the title "Initializing application".

 

In center it starts by saying: "Checking for updates" then "Connecting to email settings" and finally the screen remains blank.

 

If I (try to) cancel, the message "Checking for updates..." appear and the applcation doesn't close - nothing else happens...

 

I can open other applications and if I return to this one - the "Checking for updates..." message is still there and the application cannot be closed.

 

I do have internet access by using the browser and also use some applications that use data over the internet.

 

- How can I solve this?

 

- Searching some foruns around, with similiar problems, indicate that a data plan may be missing with the network operator - can that be the case? (why can I then use BES services?).

 

- A problem with OS v6?

 

My company service desk says they do not provide support personal in setting up personal email accounts....

 

Any help appreciated.

Hello lmgonca and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.

 

There could be two things preventing the setting up of personal email:

 

1) Your IT Policy restricts personal email usage - in which case, you would need to contact your BES Administrator

 

2) Your BlackBerry data plan is for Enterprise email only and you would need to contact your mobile network carrier for assistance to add personal email to your BlackBerry.

Cannot add Internet Email Account

PROBLEM: Upon Going to Setup > Email Accounts > Internet Email accounts, as soon as you click this it goes back to the previous screen.

 

SOLUTION:

 

It is super annoying how easy the fix i found for this is.  Please try these steps:

 

Plug the blackberry into your computer

Open Blackberry Desktop Manager

Go to Applications on the left hand side.

If you look carefully through this list you will see an option for "Email Setup"

Click the plus sign on the right to add this to the Blackberry and hit apply.

Once this installs, it will restart and then you should see the option to add an internet email account.

 

If this doesn't work, also try reinstalling AppWorld.... (I did this at the same time as my fix but i don't think this part had any effect)...
