Cannot synchronise calendar with BTYahoo

I have set-up my Blackberry 9780 (running version 6) to synchronise with my BTYahoo emails and contacts successfully, but the calendar just doesn't synchronise.  There appears to be no interaction between the Blackberry's calendar and BTYahoo's.

My service provider is O2.  O2's support said this is a known problem and I should rebuild my Blackberry, but I am hoping for a less dramatic fix and one that sounds specific to my problem rather than a generic answer for a problem.

Does anyone have any ideas or knowledge about this issue?

Re: Cannot synchronise calendar with BTYahoo

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

Actually, I am not sure that what you desire is even possible...refer to this:

  • KB03652 Comparing BlackBerry Internet Service and BlackBerry Enterprise Server features

Note that via BIS, wireless calendar is only available for Gmail...not Yahoo. You can double check inside of the on-device Email Configuration Wizard -- if you edit your Yahoo settings, there will be tic-boxes for the OTA sync that is available. If only the Contacts tic-box is visible, then Calendar is not available for OTA sync.

Good luck!

Re: Cannot synchronise calendar with BTYahoo

You are right.  So, I have now moved all my future appointments from BT Yahoo to Google, which is already synching wirelessly without any problems with both my Blackbery and my iPad (I don't know why I think I need both devices, but I do!).  BT Yahoo worked fine with the iPad.  I wonder why it doesn't work with the Blackberry.

Re: Cannot synchronise calendar with BTYahoo

I'm glad you got it going!

As for the "why" question...BIS-level OTA sync of other than email is actually very new to the BB world. As they continue to enhance BIS, they will continue I am sure to add more things. But, the true hallmark of BBs is that they are the most secure mobile devices available...consequently, they must ensure that security is not compromised in any way as they add new services. Hence, rolling things out slowly would I think be naturally expected...along with no expectation of everything ever being made available...some things will just be too insecure to be acceptable to the BB world.

Good luck!
