I have been using my Bold for about 3 months now with no problems (carrier is Vodafone out of Hong Kong). On a trip recently, I connected it to a third-party solar charger with a BB tip. Though the display showed it was charging, there was no obvious battery charge improvement after several hours in bright sunlight. In fact, it seemed even worse, and I now had a “Low Battery” text warning.
I continued to use this (did not have OEM charger with me) and eventually the BB just went dead. I kind of expected this, and when I got home, plugged it in. I got a series of blinking red light indicators. 2 flashes, pause, 3 flashes. (Does this indicator have a specific meaning?) I let in charge overnight, then attempted to power up. Nothing. No lights, no activity at all.
Looking online, I tried starting up Desktop Manager – Add/Remove Applications, and then plugging it in (both with and without battery) to see if it would recognize the Pin or allow me to push the OS onto the device. No go. Still shows no device recognized and does not give prompts to reload OS.
So, I am stuck and looking for suggestions. My IT support is all remote and I’m on a corporate plan, so hoping this can be self-resolved without having to go through my IT dept or the carrier.
