I recently added my gmail address to device. In Options/ Advanced options / Default services It only lists my Gmail account for contact List (Sync). I want to switch to my POP account as that is where I maintain my contact list. how do I get my POP acct in that list?

I would check this article that describes Google contact synchronization and how it works. It also talks about how to disable it.

Thanks. Email syncro with Gmail was checked but greyed out so didn't do anything.
I did go into Blackberry desktop manager and reset configuration in syncho configuration and went thru the wizard again to align with my Outlook account. And then it allows me to sync device to outlook.
It still calls my contacts list in device as my gmail account but I think it is just a label I cannot change.

That is correct it is just like a label and can not be changed.

I have disabled the Gmail synch as described in your linked document. I also went to sprint.blackberry.com to verify this.
I cannot synch via Desktop Manager even after this, and my Default Services for Contact List (SYNC) only shows my Gmail address as an option. Both Calendar and Messaging have the three other emails.
BB Tour 9630, Sprint.
How do I reset this???

Well I finally got it to synch via Desktop Manager, but it was a mess -- many screwed up records.
I still only have Gmail as an option for the Default Services though.

You will need to wipe the BlackBerry smartphone. To do this we would need to back up the BlackBerry smartphone. Please open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager and connect your BlackBerry smartphone. Click on the Backup and Restore button and select Back Up. Please note the location where the backup is being saved as we will need to access it later to restore the BlackBerry smartphone.
Once backed up please follow the link below to perform a security wipe of your BlackBerry smartphone.
Test the BlackBerry smartphone and proceed with a selective restore as outlined below. (do not restore contacts database)
