Contact transfer

Guys i need some help

i just got a bold 9900 and i have an old bold 9000

i transferred my brothers contacts from his old BB to his new one by using the blackberry desktop software

every thing was fine but i mistakenly made the desktop software think that my bold 9900 was my old phone and my bold 9000 so it transfered every thing wile i wasnt looking so all my messages are gone

my question is there a way to get my messages and contacts back ? did the blackberry desktop software back up my bold 9000?

please i need help :smileysad:

Re: Contact transfer

Hopefully... it did. Or have you made a backup of the device before your error?

Connect to the Desktop Software and click on Device > Restore data, you will want to click on "select data" and click to Messages.

Re: Contact transfer

I'm confused here:

You transfered your brothers old BlackBerry to his new BlackBerry.

You transfered your old 9000 to your new 9900.

Where did your 9000 device get the messages wiped?

Was anything else removed, only messages?

Re: Contact transfer

first thing i did was transfer every thing from my brothers old 9780 to his new bold 9900

i got a message saying would you want to back up the 9780 so i said yes and backed everything up and transfered every thing successfully, then after couple of hours i wanted to do the same but with my bold 9000 and transfer it to my new 9900

the process is actually to link your old blackberry then after it asks you,you link the second(new blackberry) so the transfer can happen but by mistake i linked my new blackberry first so it removed everything from my old blackberry and put all my new things from the new phone

when i started the process i left the room so i dont know if it was backed up or not

you told me to check if there is a restore file there isnt :smileysad:

what should i do

Re: Contact transfer

Search your entire PC for any "*.ipd" file, without the quote marks. These are usually stored in your My Documents folder.

See if you can identify by YOUR device PIN number, which is your backup.

Re: Contact transfer

Yep, that could be the backup from your brother's phone... but try it.

DO A BACK UP ON YOURS FIRST!
