I too have the eaxact same problem and when i checked Options > Status > Database Size, I cannot find the Address Book.
I cannot see my contacts, but under Default it says I have over 500.
I've tried filters and the #RN(whatever that code was) but it just said Organizing Contacts and took FORever.
Please help.

Open your Address Book and click the Menu > Filters. Are any filters clicked? then UNclick on those.
Now, check your Address Book... anything?

I am trying to help, don't you think?
Open your main Options or Settings from the main screen (not within the Address Book).
Go to Advanced > Default Services.
Do you see the Contact List (sync)? Set that to Default, and save.
Now return to your Address Book... anything?

Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot.
Now, go back to Options > Status > menu key > Database Sizes, and is there anything for your Address Book now?
