Copying Files From PC

I only want to copy media files from my PC to my BlackBerry. I am a bit hesitant to load the CD Software because I am using BES and get company mail from my exchange mailbox on the BB.  If I load the software could it affect my automatic receipt of Email?

Re: Copying Files From PC

Are you placing them on a media card or just onto the BlackBerry's memory?

t's recommended to buy a microSD card to store your media files on, so you don't run out of memory on your device.

Depending on what OS your BlackBerry is tells you what size microSD card you can buy. You can check under Options | About (will be listed as v4.xx.xxx). Look at the chart at the following link to see what size you can obtain - http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB05461

On the BlackBerry go into Options | Media Card. Recommended media settings are as follows:

Media Card support : ON
Encryption Mode : NONE
Mass Storage Support : ON
Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected : YES

Mass Storage mode allows your BlackBerry to act as an extra drive when connected to your PC. So it will show up as an extra drive letter in Windows Explorer. So you can just drag/drop media files onto your media card

Re: Copying Files From PC

This is great. Are you saying that I do not need the Roxio Media Manager to add video and music to my 8GB microsd card in my Bold?  I am a first time Blackberry user with a Bold for four days and my Media Manager will not install properly.  The Blackberry desktop manager works OK but the Roxio gives an error message.  If this is true I can uninstall it and reinstall a version without the Media Manager.  What is the purpose/advantage to the Roxio vs drag and drop?  Is there any?  Thanks for the help.

Re: Copying Files From PC

Correct, you do not have to use the media manager. You can also download the version of the software without media manager. The only benefit that the media manager has is that it can convert media files to be optimized for best playback on a BlackBerry. Read this KB article for more information about that.

Convert audio and video files for the media application on the BlackBerry smartphone

Other people on the boards use this converterand seem to like it however

Re: Copying Files From PC

Thank you. From your post I also found the link to the Blackberry Media Sync for transferring from iTunes which is all I want to do anyway. So that is a real bonus.  I have not tried it yet but have high hopes.
