DeskTop Manager device password

I have had my phone for a year in August and I love it, but when I finally have time to work with and learn, it is asking for a DEVICE PASSWORD.  Where do I find the password for my desktop manager?

You get very frustrated with trying to figure out what to do.  Please direct me in the right direction.  thanks

Re: DeskTop Manager device password

You would remember if you had a password on your device.

And, the only reason your Desktop Manager will ask for a password is if you had password on the device. I guess, just think harder? :smileyhappy:

OR, is it asking for a PIN or a password? Are you with Tmobile?

Re: DeskTop Manager device password

[ Edited ]

Try going into your menu, then go to "options" then "password"! Check if it is enabled or disabled, should be "disabled"! Also scroll down and check if the "prompt on application install" indicates "yes" or "no", if it says "yes" obviously change it to "no"! Then try going back into the Desktop Manager and see if it still asks for a password. Ok I tried putting a password on my BB, enabled it and entered "yes" to the "prompt on application install", and it did ask for a device password in the desktop manager. Having done this it would imply that you do have a password entered. Did you buy your BB brand new or from another person? If so they may have entered a password and forgot to remove it. You might want to try "1234", w/o the quotation marks of course, it could be the default password, but remember to press the "alt" key when entering numbers. Dont go over 3 trys even though the default setting is 10 trys. Good luck and let us know what happens. Thanks... :smileywink:

There is NO default password to a BlackBerry. I don't know where you're getting that knowledge from, but it's marlarky.

If the user has a password, there's no default or resetting it. To DISABLE the password setting, one will have to know the password.

Something sounds fishy here.

Re: DeskTop Manager device password

There is only one solution. If there was a user password created, only that password can unlock the device. Period. There is no backdoor password. There is no way to bypass it. There is no default password on any BB. The only successful entry is that previously user-programmed password.
