New to the forum and probably have received many questions regarding this, but just recently bought the Bold and downloaded the Desktop Mgr, Version 4.6. I noticed that when downloading it, it takes my PC which is running Vista, 4 to 5 times longer to load/boot up (internet, security, you bname it). Just to make sure I uninstalled the Manager, and voila, PC booted up fast as before installing the software. I re-installed it as need and like the applications, but is there something or an update which will cure the slow boot up on Vista, or do I have to live with it if I want the Desktop Manager installed. What a bumber! Thanks for any help.

I have had severe problems with Vista, Media, and the DM.

Try to log into the grand Administrator Account of Vista,

nuke the DM and then re-install it directly from BlackBerry dot com.

Thanks for the info. Let's see if I've got it right. First, I am the administrator. Are you saying that the difference is using the disk as compared to downloading direct from the site? If so, my disk had 4.6 which came with my Bold. Should I download the 4.7 or the same 4.6 direct without saving, or save and then install, and which one? Thanks

I am saying that there are (at least) three different account types in

Vista: Administrator, Standard User, and Guest.  It is confusing

because a Standard User account has many "administrator"

privileges, such as "Run as Administrator", etc.  See if you can

find or create a real Vista Administrator account.  Good Luck !
