E-mail Associated to Blackberry ID No Longer Active or Deleted

Members,

Here is my problem I forgot my Blackberry ID Password, when I tried to reset the password the e-mail verification is sent to the e-mail associated to my Blackberry ID, unfortunately this e-mail is a corporate e-mail which no longer exist as I no longer work for that employer.

I know I could do a wipe but I don't want to lose my Blackberry Messenger Contact. What are my options?

Best Regards,

Re: E-mail Associated to Blackberry ID No Longer Active or Deleted

Hello,

Unfortunately, your situation requires access to the email account associated with the BB ID in order for you to make the necessary correctly...all of the automated methods require this.

Your choices -- contact the former employer email admin and ask them if they could temporarily restore that email account so that you could receive the necessary email.

Create a new BB ID and lose all prior AppWorld records.

Create a new BB ID and contact your mobile service provider for formal support and escalation into RIM, to whom you would need to convince to manually migrate your prior AW records to the new BB ID.

I can't think of any other options...but I'm not sure why you believe this situation will result in your losing your BBM Contact List...

Good luck and let us know!

Re: E-mail Associated to Blackberry ID No Longer Active or Deleted

Hello,

Final resolution as follows

As I can't temporary request the e-mail admin to temporary recreate my e-mail hence the steps that I took as follows

1. Create a new BB ID (RIM confirmed they can't reset the password of a BB ID)

2. Backup Device

3. Security Wipe

4. Restore Device

5. Ready to Go

My BB is back and running well.

Thanks.

Actually, in my interpretation of the OPs posts above, they cannot access the email account to which that original BB ID was registered, and hence could not receive the necessary password recovery email. Hence the need to abandon the prior BB ID and start over.

Cheers!

Re: E-mail Associated to Blackberry ID No Longer Active or Deleted

Hi I know the post was a long time ago. But when you did the Wipe, did it remove all your images, audio files and text messages too? Because I have the same problem and I dont want to lose all of this data!

Thank you.

Re: E-mail Associated to Blackberry ID No Longer Active or Deleted

[ Edited ]

Hi thank you for your response. So it says I can choose what type of wipe? This part at the bottom I don't understand, it says all types do the below:

* Overwrites BlackBerry smartphone memory - does this include images, messages, audio files.??

*Performs a scrub of BlackBerry smartphone memory if content protection is turned on - Does this content refer to images, messages audio files. and scrub means that it wont delete them?

Sorry, The link to find out more info returns 404 page not available.

Basically: I can't get access to my BBB ID email, so i have to create a new ID. perform a Wipe to enter the new username and password. And if i choose the correct Wipe type, i can still keep or restore my data or content (such as messages, images and audio files). That's the only reason why i need access back to this phone is for this data.

AND if i do perform a WIPE and it does delete all of these, is there any way i can use a program to restore this data.

Thank you :smileyhappy:

In conjunction with "Deletes User Data", yes...but only for data in Device Memory. Not for data on a Media Card.

No, it will delete them, but it will do even more. Content Protection is something you would have had to turn on, and it provides encryption of the files stored on the device, protected by the user-created device lock password. Without that specific device and the device lock password, the files cannot be opened. This action scrubs Device Memory, in addition to deleting the files. And yes, it refers again to data in Device Memory, not on a Media Card. And scrub means that after the files are deleted (so yes they are deleted), the memory space that held them is scrubbed as added protection from anything that may attempt to "undelete" them.

Sorry, I have no control over that.

In NONE of the WIPE methods is the data you are referring to retained. ALL of them wipe out what you are referring to. What you must do is, before you WIPE, backup your data to a computer...refer to the link in my auto sig on this post for proper backup instructions.

Good luck!
