Email Stopped Working!! The Problem is NOT Solved!

[ Edited ]

My BB 9780 was working fine up until a few weeks ago and then my emails stopped.

I did not add any app or change anything

I tried that service book registration thing, taking out battery, deleting emails and trying to set them up again (which doesn't work now at all) and nothing

So any idea?

I'm getting tired of these bugs... I would really like to have a phone that can receive emails, otherwise this thing will become a big paperweight

Re: Email Stopped Working!!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!!

I know you said you tried some things, but I'm not sure if you've done exactly these steps. Therefore, I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):

1) Register HRT

  • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
  • Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app

2) Delete and Resend Service Books

  • KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
  • If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
  • KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
  • Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.

3) Batt Pull Reboot

  • With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should try deleting and re-adding your BIS configuration for the affected email accounts. Otherwise, you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support.

Good luck!

Re: Email Stopped Working!!

This doesn't work.

I deleted the email accounts in the service book - that worked as the email icons disappeared.

I created new email accounts and hit the 'send service etc...'

BUT nothing every came back. No new email icons were created.

So now I have no email icons at all, although when I go into 'create email accounts' they're there

Any other ideas?

Re: Email Stopped Working!!

everything seems fine up until

"Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service"

I did that and nothing ever comes back.

I hit that button half dozen times, nothing

Any other ideas?

btw: why is there a "solved" sign - this problem is not solved!

just because you copy and paste a possible solution does not mean the problem is solved

Re: Email Stopped Working!!

Anyone else have this problem and have any idea how to resolve it?

I'm not asking for anything fancy, just to be able to receive emails. I would think in this day and age, that's a bare minimum for a phone.

Re: Email Stopped Working!!

From what you said in these posts, I'm not quite sure you exactly followed the instructions. You said you deleted the email account in the service book...then you said you re-created the email account. Those two steps are not congruous...if you only deleted the specified service books, then you would not recreate the email configuration...rather, you would resend the service books.

Only by falling out of the three steps do you get to the point of actually recreating the email configuration...after totally removing it first. But, inside of the 3 steps, there is no instruction to actually delete and recreate the email account integration on your BB.

So I'm concerned that perhaps you were not able to properly follow the instructions. But, maybe I'm misunderstanding you on that...if so, please clarify.

There also is the final instruction...to contact your service provider for formal support. They can check the "back end" systems to see if anything is amiss there...no one here can do that.

Also, I've no idea why this got marked solved...typically, only the creator of the thread can do that...but I've asked that it be "unsolved" so that it meets your desire.

Good luck and let us know!

This does not work. No activation message is received

Re: Email Stopped Working!!

OK...but, just to be sure I understand. When you earlier said that you deleted and re-created the email account, you did not actually do that? As in, what you actually did was delete the noted service books, and this then is the next step in resending those service books? But the email account remains configured to the BB (just not visible due to lack of the Service Books)?

It is important to know this for sure...for, if you indeed did actually delete the email configuration, then there would be no service books to arrive, because there is no integrated email account. If the email account was indeed fully deleted, then it needs to be recreated and then re-do the entire 3 steps.

Also, just to be clear...step 1 worked exactly as written? The one registration message arrived to your BB?

In any event, if you indeed did do exactly as the steps instruct, and this is still the result, then you need to fall out of the process and contact your mobile service provider for formal support...all of these things come from systems they manage, and only they can look at those systems to see what is going on.

Good luck!
