When I navigate to "Settings -> Options -> Memory -> Device Memory I find the following message:"Device Memory cannot be read. Verify that the device memory is formatted."
1. How do I resolve this message or the underlying problem?
2. I am assuming that it would not be a good idea to format the device memory - right?
I have done a "battery pull" without any difference.
Any help would be appreciated.

That is an error that I have not come across, I would suggest that you do a backup of the device an then try to go through the following clean application load process: http://bit.ly/cKy9A0. Before you restore any data go back into this screen to see if you are getting the same error.
Let us know how you make out.
