Error message and frozen Bold 9700

My device downloaded an upgrade "successfully"--according to the message that flashed on the screen.  Suddenly all applications disappeared from the screen and this message came up "Uncaught exception:Application Registry.wait For (0x5364ff2940fa3920)timeout"  When I press "OK" another message pops up: "Uncaught exception:java.lang.NullPointerException" no matter how many time I press "OK" it sits there frozen.  I have removed the battery, reloaded, etc.  Nothing changes.  I can't access any applications or settings features so I am unable to reset or uninstall, etc.

Can someone give me the solution to this?

Thank you kindly,

Liam21

I'm having the same exact problem, and because it's frozen it disabled my radio so my carrier is unable to remove to my device

Re: Error message and frozen Bold 9700

Hi Liam21,

Welcome to the Support Community!

Was the downloaded upgrade an upgrade to your BlackBerry Device Software? If you have not tried to reload the device software again, is your BlackBerry Bold smartphone able to be detected by the BlackBerry Desktop Software when it is connected to a computer? If it is, I would suggest backing up your data and performing a clean reload of the device software. For further instructions, please see the following KB articles.

For Windows®: "How to perform a clean reload of the BlackBerry Device Software for Windows" http://bbry.lv/GI9beY
For Mac: "Perform a clean reload of BlackBerry smartphone application software using BlackBerry Desktop Software on a Mac computer" http://bbry.lv/J0UN1U

If the BlackBerry Desktop Software is unable to detect your connected BlackBerry Bold smartphone, you may want to try to force a connection to start a software reload. This process would remove all personal data and applications. The following KB articles provide the steps.

If you are using a Windows® computer: http://bbry.lv/L13o3O
If you are using a Mac: http://bbry.lv/NtreH7

Please let me know how it goes.

Re: Error message and frozen Bold 9700

I visited the local Verizon folks.  The phone is a goner.  Unable to access any of the menus to reset or uninstall that dreadful update that created the problem.  My six month old phone was still under warranty, so Verizon shipped me a new one overnight.  I'm trying to program this new one and it is a true problem since the old one still exists...so to speak....

Re: Error message and frozen Bold 9700

Thanks, FrankieS.  Could not access the phone via desktop or any other manner, so had it replaced since the warranty was still in effect.

Appreciate your input.  You sound very knowledgeable.
