Everything that my BBB9000 can NOT do ....

OK guys, I'm tired of trying, I'd like something that actualy work.

I've done some reset, some HARD reset (u know, with the 507 screen ..) I've erased data, loaded back my backup, ... even tryed NOT to load back my backup

I have this :

v4.6.0.303;  (platform 4.0.0.248);  Kernel v3.8.5.50a;  brand. 1.0.179.154;

And here is my pain:

I can't do IM

I can't do messaging (but SMS)

I can't do email (but with 3rd party apps)

I can't do GPS mapping (my GPS works with Blackstar and others, but no mapps)

I can sync (Yahoo, Google, ...) as it says I have "login failed, due to network problems"

I can't even download from BB website apps such as BBmaps as it says the feature is not meant for desktop browser. Needless to say that I'm actualy browsing using my BBB with BB browser

I have WiFi connection that works fine (browsing, email with 3rd party apps, ...) and 3G which I try not tu use (way too expensive here)

Any idea ?

I'm lost ...

I forgot one:

I can't do Skoot !

It looks like most of apps I can't run are the one with login feature .. ?

Check your BlackBerry option on your contract!

Re: Everything that my BBB9000 can NOT do ....

he he he ...

Thing is I don't have contract, and assume I shouldn't have contract to get my BBB working !

I did GPSed tracking yesterday, and it works fine, so I should be able to load gmap or BBmaps (which are allready in apps) without constraint.

When I browse to GPS config, "map" I can't choose any map provider, it's locked on "none"

Very anoying !!

I've DL google map yesterday (WiFi) which means I AM connected !!

Then, once I start the app, it says that there is a ntwork bug which prevent from google map to load (same as any other app)

WTF ??!!

I AM connected for C-S

EDIT: yes, I'm pissed off :smileywink:

Re: Everything that my BBB9000 can NOT do ....

Oh, and BTW:

On my Storm, I've had access to GPS map browsing (BBmap)  and email receiving/sending (using 3rd party apps)

And it work'd fine ! needless to say, I was using the same prepaid GSP ship I'm now using in my BBBold

What would be the difference making a Storm accepting features that a Bold doesn't ?

(plug on same computer, using same desktopmanager, same update, etc ..)

Re: Everything that my BBB9000 can NOT do ....

Hi there!

I suggest the following steps:

1) Register HRT

  • Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > BBKey (it does not matter which line is current) > Register Now

2) Resend Service Books

  • KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service

3) Batt Pull Reboot

  • Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

If those don't work, then I suggest contacting your carrier and asking them about the precise services you wish to use...if they require a higher level service plan from them in order for you to access those services, then that would be the reason that you cannot now use them.

Re: Everything that my BBB9000 can NOT do ....

Hi there

tks for your detailed answer.

#1: I've done that several time and get the "ur request have been sent ... blah blah blah"

but nothing else happen

#2: I don't have service book and my Service Provider doesn't seams to support it. I mean I'm using pay-as-u-go card, so no contract, no service

BUT

I agree that because of the card I'm using I cant demand after sales or email filtering or pushing services, OK, fine. but nethertheless, I should be able to use my GPS system with maps and other stuff

#3: Hard reboot. I do it from time to time, and despite it doesn't actualy do all the tricks, what it does is pretty satisfying allready

SO:

I don't have contract w/ any Service Provider BUT I should be able to use some services anyway

I'm fine not having contract-linked services

NO, maybe you should read your Terms of Service for this 'Pay-as-you-go' service (Rogers, I assume?)
Non-contract prepaid cards -especially in North America - often include NO DATA SERVICES.  You have phone calls and Txtmsgng and nothing else.  Some prepaid services may bill data as airtime, but this is by no means common.
It sounds very strongly as though the phone has no data access, not because it is missing service books but because it is blocked from it by your lack of service authorization.  Email, web browsing and GPS mapping all require online data - Google Maps and any phone-based GPS navigation download maps on the fly based on the GPS positioning of the receiver, which itself does NOT use the cellular network.
I'm very curious what network it is you claim to be using both a Storm and a Bold on with the same prepaid service - one is a CDMA phone, the other is GSM.  Both support CDMA2100 frequencies, but then would also be carrier-locked.. the information you provide overall is confusing and doesn't add up.
tl;dr you're an **bleep**.  Get a service contract or a different provider if you want to use a smartphone.
