I just received my new Bold 9000. I am unclear on what I need to use the GPS navigation. Do I really have to pay for a subscription with AT&T to utilize this feature? Is there another way to use this feature? If so do they all require paid subscription? Would I need to load a different navigation program? Etc, etc.....

I have att without subscribing to Navigator and my GPS is certainly working.
Go to System > Advanced Options > GPS
Three settings in GPS
1) GPS Data Source-can't change this one and should say "Device GPS"
2) GPS Services - click on it if it says "Location Off" and select "Location ON"
3) Location Aiding - Select "Enabled"
*Don't forget to save - Select Menu and select Save
Satellites are free to use and your Bold GPS is equipped to work without att. You got to remember that most navigation programs that can be installed on the Bold work with providing a map that uses data provided in real time from att and having an unlimited data plan may be required. With the first two settings correctly configured, you can at least click on the menu key and select "refresh GPS" and it will give you your exact lacation without any map.
If you can, Blackberry MAPS installed will work! It will also work for Google Maps and others made for the BB.
