Re: General Issue on 9700! PLEASE TEST IF YOU HAVE ONE!

Same issue, rec'd text from co-worker, I knew the number so I went into contacts, took out everything but the digits, saved, went back to his text and his name was then reflected.  I am running .330

Re: General Issue on 9700! PLEASE TEST IF YOU HAVE ONE!

the first thing i did was setup my email then i went to start BBM and it told me there was an update, so i updated.

i cant confirm, just like you, if it was working prior to BBM.

also, i did a sync with my exchange server at work.  i am using BIS and BES on my 9700.  I am not chaning my contacts, i like the (xxx) xxx-xxxx format.  easy to read the number.

my 8330 didnt have a problem with this.

i would like to add that i like the new test interface...being able to press enter and send the message is a good upgrade.

i am waiting for a fix for this issue.  if i press the blackberry button, i can see the persons name next to email, mms, and call, which is easy to do and i dont have to memorize the numbers of people who text me, but i do agree that it should be fixed ASAP.

OMG glad im not the only one, this is VERY annoying i hope rim can fix this soon. my numbers are in xxx-xxx-xxxx format simply because its easy to read. oviously not for my 9700 but for me and i agree there is NO WAY im going to go through and "fix them". if anyone bothers to know i synced my contacts through gmail, ( perfect for those who are coming from a G1 )

Re: General Issue on 9700! PLEASE TEST IF YOU HAVE ONE!

I have experienced the same problem so I did this. I took a single contact and copied it to the sim card. Once done, I went back into my Messages folder and the SMS that previously showed with a phone number now shows with the contacts name.  I suppose the entire contact list can be copied to the sim card but I am a nooby and do not know the ramifications of copying the entire list. Can someone shed some light on this practice? Thanks

Some of the address book/SIM card issues may be taken care of VIA syncing or logging in to your account whether you have Tmobile or Sprint. I know Tmobile backs up numbers to their servers and can be edited from their website.

From what it looks like, all contacts that want to be apart of threaded SMS viewing the names instead if numbers have to be on the SIM, and it shouldnt matter if dashes or anything is included with the number in address book.
