If you are resetting the device taking out the battery you don't loose the information.

Yes, in Blackberry for erase all the information in the device you need Wipe the device

For a BlackBerry, to correct your terminology, a hard reset is simply a battery pull reboot.

A wipe from the Security Options or JL Cmder will clear all data or reset to factory.

Hello,

In the context of what is discussed in this thread, you don't. The "hard reset" is a function of removing the battery from the BB.

Now, if your issue is that the BB is locked with a device-lock password and you don't know it to unlock the BB, then there may be no hope. That password user creative and all-controlling...to do anything with the BB requires inputting the password. If you want to do something on the device, you must enter the password on the device. If you want to do something via the Desktop Software, you must enter the password on the PC when you connect the device to the PC. There is no way to bypass that password. There is no "master" or "override" password to bypass it. Only that user-created password can unlock the BB and prevent a complete wipe of all data on the BB.

The only solution (other than correctly guessing the password) is to enter an incorrect password 10 times.  The device will then permanently wipe all data stored on it (may take up to an hour), then allow you to set a new password (or none at all).  There is no other way to bypass this.  Best thing in the future is to make regular backup copies onto your computer.
