Have a problem registering Hotmail on my BB9780

Hello,

regards i have a problem registering my Hotmail account on my BB9780 when i enter my email and password it waits for about 30 seconds then tells me "updaite failed" i have tried before with other accounts like "gmail" & "yahoo" and it doesn't work also.

So i am asking you for helping me

Hi and Welcome to the Community!!

I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):

1) Register HRT

  • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
  • Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app

2) Delete and Resend Service Books

  • KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
  • If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
  • KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
  • Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.

3) Batt Pull Reboot

  • With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support.

i dont know where the problem excatly, i have done all the steps as you have said but it also didn't work

OK...one question then...Did steps 1 and 2 complete EXACTLY as I described above?

If not, and even if they did yet things still do not work, then you fall to the last thing I posted above...contact your service provider for formal support. After all, it's their network with which your BB cannot properly communicate. Hence, only they (your carrier folks) can look at their system to try and figure out why. No one here has any such access to do so...

one point i want to tell you that i work this step on wifi without putting a sim card on my phone and i think that there is no relation between this and my carreer provider. And i already did the steps as you said

No...you need to do those steps with a strong carrier network signal, not on WiFi. Those services are provided by your carrier data network, and your BB needs to be functioning on that network in order to receive those services properly.

Further, your BB must have a proper BB-level data plan from your carrier in order to use email at all, even if you only use it via WiFi. Email is an enhanced BB-proprietary service, and requires you to pay your carrier for a proper data plan level in order to enable it.

So, I recommend you put the SIM in, locate yourself with a strong carrier network signal, and then do those steps again.

Further, please expand on "And i already did the steps as you said"...I'm sorry, but I cannot quite tell still from that if the results of each step was correct or not. For example, you may queue the HRT, but until your BB receives the required message from your carrier network, the step is not complete. From your words, I still cannot tell for sure if that happened correctly or not.

okay i have putted my sim card and the email worked but with the email ........@mobinil.blackberry.com   not with hotmail or yahoo it does tell me update failed ony with the mail "...........@mobinil.blackberry.com" that have succesed and didn't tell me updaite failed

Hello,

 

If you changed your email password at your email server, then you need to change the password stored by BIS for accessing that account. You do that via the email configuration wizard on your device.
