Hello everyone,
Ive been browsing for some months now as i've had the dissapointment of my BB dying on me! I decided to bite the bullet and stop being so stubborn, and registered on site to ask for advice.
Ive had it for around 8 months, I purchused it through a company and pay monthly to o2. I was intrigued by the Blackberry as my line of work involves me spending alot of time on answering emails and being on the net. The thought of being able to do so while i was on the move is what prompted me to take the plunge and upgrade to a blackberry bold 9700.
Around 3 months ago, it went mad! Started to reboot and then the screen turned white with the error code 507. I could not turn it on or off and connecting it to the blackberry desktop did nothing, as my device was not reconised. I did contact my network provider who informed me i had to go back to the shop i orginally got the contract from. I di that sent the phone to them to recieve it back 3 weeks later saying it had water damage and the warrenty would not cover the costs! I was confused as the phone had always been inside a leather case, never in contact with water, or been dropped etc. They said its more than likely condensation and id need to pay an £80 charge to fix it. Being on jobseekers atm since the company my husband worked for closed down, i could not afford that and resigned myself to the fact i would have to go without a phone.
This started to affect my job ( i run a non profit support site online) and i have been searching for a solution ever since, as im sure this white screen is not due to a tiny bit on what they say is condensation damage.
I put it all back together and as soon as the battery was put in the red light turned on and a white screen popped up. However instead of an error message, i got a load of words telling me to push s t a r t. which i did, Immediatly it informed me there was no sim present, so i popped a sim in and am now faced with a white screen saying
No Application Linked
Factory OS
I reinstalled blackberry desktop ( new laptop so no previous software on here) and upon attaching my phone it tells me it can not connect the device and something about a dead battery. This phoen will not budge past this white screen, i can not charge it and have no clue what to do. I have read through everyones imput but i am so confused and at the brink of throwing it in the bin, which annoys me as i have 18 months still left on my contract to pay for a phone i am not using and they will not repair.
Is this a lost cause? Is my phone repairable or am i faced with finding the money for phones 4u to do what i could find on the net?
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, it is much appriciated.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Thank you for the detailed post...that really helps a great deal!
There is no way, at an internet distance, to diagnose the original cause of the problems. Moisture intrusion into the BB could indeed cause this behavior, but there's no way for anyone here to know that for sure...there are other things that could cause the problem. Nevertheless, from the warranty perspective, your service provider is the authoritative entity...if you wish so appeal that ruling, you must do so through them (via whatever procedures they may have).
As to the error messages -- both are the same. A 507 means that there is no OS on the device. The other message you received seems to be the same, just with different words. So we can assume that your BB has no OS on board anymore (again, why this is so is beyond what we can hope to diagnose here).
The simplest solution that I know of is this:
1) Make sure you have downloaded and installed, to your PC, the latest RIM Desktop Software...this is necessary to install the proper drivers so that your BB and your PC can communicate. If it prompts you to connect your BB, you will want to bypass that and back out of the execution of the desktop software (you want it installed, but you don't want to run it yet).
2) Also download and install, still to your PC, your desired OS for your BB...the best to choose is your mobile service providers latest version for your specific BB model.
3) Now download and install, again still to your PC, an application called BBSAK (BB Swiss Army Knife).
4) Now attach your BB to your PC via USB (if you are on a laptop, make sure to use a direct USB port...no docking station or port replicators please).
5) Now launch BBSAK and see if it recognizes your BB. You may want to keep BBSAK running and disconnect/reconnect you BB a few times.
Hopefully BBSAK will find your BB, in which case you can then use BBSAK to load the OS onto your BB.
Give those things a try...there are more things to try if it does not work, but let's await your results from this first.
Good luck and let us know!

Hello,
Thankyou so much for your reply, I have managed to revive it ![]()
My problem is it now does not connect to my wifi. It shows up as 3G and says the wireless is on, but when i try to use the internet it says requested server not found?
I am not currently using my monthly sim as there is a problem between me and o2, but have used a PAYG sim for 3 months without internet. Do i need to pay for internet to use wifi? I assumed it connected when i put my password it, which it has and says my network name and everything.
I will search around for an answer i do not expect you to reply. But than you in advance if you do ![]()

Hi and Welcome to the Community!!
While connected properly to your mobile data network (not your wifi, but your carrier data network), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
1) Register HRT
2) Delete and Resend Service Books
3) Batt Pull Reboot
Good luck!
